Prenatal Pilates strengthens the muscles placed under increasing demand as your pregnancy progresses, helping your body adapt to changes in posture, balance and your growing bump.
Strengthens your pelvic floor as it supports your baby's growing weight.
Eases back, hip and pelvic discomfort by strengthening the glutes, hamstrings and upper back to better support your changing posture and alignment.
Builds deep core stability and strength by working the inner abdominal muscles that support your growing bump.
Improves circulation and helps reduce leg swelling and cramps through controlled leg work, ankle movement and hip mobility against resistance.
Supports postpartum recovery by maintaining strength and fitness through pregnancy, so you begin recovery from a stronger baseline.| Suitable For | 2nd & 3rd trimester |

Pilates Fitness launched Singapore's first Couple Prenatal Reformer class in 2010 so your loved one does not have to sit on the sidelines. You each train on your own Merrithew Reformer and at your own level — mum follows pregnancy-appropriate exercises while her plus-one gets a more challenging variation where appropriate.
Training together also prepares both of you for what comes after birth. Lifting, carrying and caring for a newborn takes strength and stamina. Building that strength together now means both of you are better prepared for the physical demands of caring for baby.
Your plus-one can be your husband, partner, sister, mum, BFF or another loved one who isn't pregnant. No previous Pilates experience is needed for either of you.
Prefer some me-time? Come solo. Mums are equally welcome on their own.
Yes. Your plus-one can be your husband, bff or another loved one, as long as they aren't pregnant themselves. We've had sisters and mother-daughter pairs train together too.
Each of you gets your own Reformer, and no previous Pilates experience is needed.
Yes. Prefer some me-time instead? Mums are equally welcome to join solo.
For most uncomplicated pregnancies, Prenatal Pilates can be a safe way to stay active during the second and third trimester when exercises are appropriately modified.
At Pilates Fitness, we don't expect every pregnant body to move the same way, so we adjust exercises to your movement, comfort and energy that day. If we see compensation or an exercise isn't working well for your body, we change the position, range or resistance rather than asking you to push through it.
Check with your gynae first if you are in your first trimester, have pregnancy complications, bleeding or cramping, have been advised to restrict exercise, or if your medical circumstances change.

Neither is better for every mum. The better choice depends on what you want from your exercise during pregnancy.
If your priority is relaxation, breathing and mobility, prenatal yoga may suit you better.
If your priority is building strength, improving stability and balance, reducing discomforts and supporting your changing posture, Prenatal Reformer Pilates may suit you better.
| Prenatal Yoga | Prenatal Reformer Pilates | |
|---|---|---|
| Main focus | Breathing, relaxation, mobility | Strength, balance, stability and muscle control |
| Movement | Stretching, poses and flowing sequences | Controlled, resistance-based exercises |
| Resistance | Mainly body weight | Adjustable spring resistance |
| Equipment | Mat, blocks and bolsters | Reformer, Pilates ring, light weights, stability cushions and foam rollers |
| May suit you if | You prioritise relaxation and mobility | You want strength, support and stability as your body changes |
The springs support you where you need assistance and add resistance where you're ready for more.
That matters during pregnancy because your strength, balance and comfort don't stay constant. Instead of deciding that an exercise is simply “too hard” or “too easy,” we can change the spring resistance, position or range to better suit your body that day.
Prenatal Reformer exercises also train the body from head to toe, with particular attention to glutes, upper back, deep core and other muscles that support your changing posture as your bump grows.
If your goal is to keep building strength while your pregnancy progresses, Prenatal Reformer Pilates is likely to be the better fit.
Pilates Fitness launched Singapore's first Couple Prenatal Reformer class in 2010 and has since taught more than 2,000 prenatal classes. Some of the babies whose mums trained with us in our earliest classes are now teenagers joining our classes themselves.
Every prenatal class is taught by founder Candice Chin, a Merrithew®-Certified Prenatal & Postnatal Instructor who has taught prenatal Pilates since 2010.
There is no fixed routine. Candice listens to how you feel that day, watches how your body moves and spots when the wrong muscles are compensating. She can then change the exercise, position, range or resistance immediately — and help you recognise what the correct muscle activation should feel like.
Two mums at the same stage of pregnancy may therefore do different variations in the same class.
With up to 10 participants, you get the individual observation, corrections and modifications normally associated with private Pilates, within a small-group class.

Our 55-minute Prenatal Reformer Pilates class runs every Sunday at 2pm at Pilates Fitness, Serangoon Gardens. Join solo or train with a loved one. Classes are capped at 10 participants.
Classes are booked as a monthly block covering every scheduled Sunday that month. October has four Sundays.
| Monthly Block (4 Classes) | Per Class | Per Person, Per Class | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $216 | $54 | $54 |
| Couple | $416 | $104 | $52 |
Private Prenatal Pilates is also available at $150 per class or $1,400 for 10 sessions.
Because your body changes week to week. Training consistently allows us to build on what's working and adapt what needs to change as your pregnancy progresses, rather than starting from scratch each class.
There are no make-up prenatal sessions because we run one prenatal class each week. Instead, unused sessions can be converted to regular group Reformer credits for you to use when you're ready to return, or transferred to a loved one. Your unused classes don't disappear.
Next intake: October. October places are open now.
No. We do not offer trial classes for Prenatal Pilates, and the $189 first-timer trial does not apply. Pregnancy changes week to week, so prenatal is booked as a monthly bundle — that's what lets your instructor work with you consistently and adapt as you progress, rather than meeting you once.
The bundle covers every scheduled Sunday that month, so a five-Sunday month is billed for five classes. The price per class stays the same.
Our Prenatal Reformer classes are designed from the second trimester onwards, but there is no fixed cut-off for starting later in pregnancy. Mums have joined us at 30+ weeks and still felt the difference within a few sessions. If you’re further along and new to Pilates, we start conservatively and build from there.
Yes, as long as you feel well and exercise remains appropriate for your pregnancy. Mums have trained with us into their final weeks since every exercise is adapted based on their bump, balance, mobility and energy change.
If your medical circumstances change, check with your gynae before continuing.
No. Our regular group Reformer classes are not designed for pregnancy. Once pregnant, you should move to our dedicated Prenatal Reformer class, where exercises are adapted to your pregnancy stage and how you’re feeling that day.
If you’re still in your first trimester, check with your gynae before starting prenatal exercise.
Yes. No previous Pilates or Reformer experience is needed for either mum or her plus-one. We guide you step-by-step and adjust the exercises and resistance to your individual ability.
We don’t teach from a fixed prenatal routine.
Every class starts with how you’re feeling that day — your sleep, energy, discomfort and any changes since your last session. We then watch how your body moves, identify compensation and adapt the exercise, position, range or resistance in real time.
The difference isn’t simply making an exercise easier or harder. We look at which muscles are actually doing the work and help you recognise what correct muscle activation should feel like.
Two mums at the same stage of pregnancy may therefore be doing different variations in the same class.
You can do either.
Come solo if you prefer some me-time, or bring one loved one to train beside you. Your plus-one can be your husband, partner, sister, mum, BFF or another loved one, as long as they are not pregnant themselves.
Each person gets their own Merrithew® Reformer, and your plus-one is given a more challenging variation where appropriate.
They get a real workout too.
You follow pregnancy-appropriate exercises while your plus-one can be given a stronger variation of the same movement where appropriate.
That means you can train together without either person having to compromise their workout.
No. Prenatal Pilates is a separate programme booked as a monthly block, with your place reserved for the scheduled Sunday classes that month.
If you become pregnant while you still have regular Reformer credits, contact us and we’ll advise you on your existing bundle.
Tell your instructor immediately.
She will modify the exercise, position, range or resistance, or have you rest.
You are never expected to push through pain or feeling unwell. If you experience concerning pregnancy symptoms, stop exercising and seek appropriate medical advice.
Wear comfortable, fitted exercise clothing that lets you move freely and allows your alignment to be seen. Bring clean socks — grip socks are preferred — and water if you need it.
All Reformer equipment and Pilates props are provided.
Our Prenatal Reformer class is capped at 10 participants, with solo mums and couples training together in the same session.
Keeping the group small allows us to observe movement, give individual corrections and modify exercises within the group.
