Our September 2022 Flow Focus is Thoracic Spinal Extension.

 

The ability of thoracic spine to perform extension reduces load on the lower back and shoulders. Thoracic spinal extensions help the body to activate the muscles at the back of our body. The spine is supposed to move in 3 directions – forward (flexion), backwards (extension) and side to side (side-bends and rotation).

 

Our modern lifestyle focuses a lot on forward bending of the spine and using the front part of the body, leading to issues such as hunch back, rounded shoulders, knee pain, lower back aches, slipped disc, bulging belly etc

 

For instance:

  • Hunch back could be caused by long and weak back muscles and tight chest muscles
  • Knee pain could be caused by over usage of the knee joints and quadriceps muscles instead of your hamstrings and gluteus
  • Slipped disc could be due to hyper mobility of the lumbar spine or the cervical spine to compensate for a stiff thoracic spine
  • Bulging belly could be due to inability to engage abdominals during movements and overworking the lower back

What is Flow Challenge?

Flow Challenge is an exclusive benefit for all Pilates Fitness members. Flow Challenge is a monthly challenge that gifts free Reformer Pilates classes and develops your strength, flexibility, core, posture, balance, and coordination with new monthly flow routines.

What are monthly Flow routines?

Every month, we come out with a new Flow routine to address a specific muscular or joint mobility issue that we see most often in Pilates Fitness members. For instance, we could focus on spine mobility to reduce backaches, stiffness and improve core strength.

 

The Flow routine allows our members to focus on specific muscular and joint issues, allowing them to accelerate their progress. The Flow routine is only applicable for Weight Loss, Abs Burn, Cardio Jumpboard and Weight Loss Plus classes.

Are there any rewards for completing the Flow Challenge?

Yes! Every month, members are rewarded with up to 3 FREE group Reformer Classes when you attend 10 or more paid Reformer group classes in one month.

 

Unfortunately Flow Challenge reward does not applies to Private classes.

Do I need to sign up to join the Flow Challenge?

No, you do not need to sign up to participate in the monthly Flow Challenge. All group classes attended using paid credits will be automatically accounted for.

Why is my name not on the Flow Scoreboard?

We update the scoreboard on first-come first-served basis. Clients who have attended at least 3 group classes by 5th of the month will be added first. Thereafter, we will only put the top 48 attendees on the scoreboard.

Can I change class attended from free credit to paid credit?

Yes, you can change class attended from free group class to paid group class so that you can get the Flow Challenge reward. Please email us before the last day of the month at enquiry@pilatesfitness.com.sg to update your account.

When will I get the reward?

The Flow Challenge reward is automatically credited into your account by the 15th of the following month. You will get a WhatsApp notification and an email once we credited the free class(es) into your account.

If I've booked the class but unable to attend last minute, will the paid class charged be counted towards Flow Challenge?

No, you must physically attend at least 8 paid group classes within a calendar month to claim the FREE Class reward.

    • You will get 1 / 2 FREE group class(es) if you attended at least 8 / 10 paid group classes a month. The class count for the month is between first and the last day of the month.

 

    • If you have attended at least 10 paid group classes last month and this month (10 paid group classes per month for 2 consecutive months), 3 FREE group classes instead of 2 FREE group classes will be awarded for the second consecutive month.

 

    • All paid Reformer Pilates group classes across all studios are valid to count towards the 8 / 10 group classes clocked per month.

 

    • All free classes or unlimited bundles are not valid to participate in the Flow Challenge

 

  • Flow Challenge FREE Classes are tabulated and credited to participants’ account by the 15th of the following month. FREE group classes credited are valid for 3 months.

First try on Reformer class

I have signed up the 3-class discovery pass hoping to build my core muscles due to my knee injury.
I had enjoyed the classes. Instructor Candice is patient and helpful to correct our postures. I have signed up a class bundle and hope I can also try out flexi-stretch also.

Enjoying the core class!

I have been attending the core class (usually with Joy) and I definitely feel stronger and more confident when executing the movements. Joy conducts her class at a good pace, yet still takes the time to check on us and help correct our form when necessary. I am starting to explore the weight loss class now.

Pilates Reformer Trial

It was my first time trying pilates reformer. Joy was the instructor to the class that I attended. She was friendly and patience and that make me less nervous for my first class. I like the idea of introduction class prior to the class so that new student like me know how the instruments work and not lost during the class. The location of the studio is also easily located. Definitely looking forwards to try other classes as well. Keep it up!

Wonderful start

I had my 2nd pirates class yesterday. Initially i was a little worried as i am pretty new to this and also not sure how i can feel about knee cap problem. I totally enjoyed the 1 hour class, the instructer was really patient and professional. Ill definitely come back to this.

Thoughts on reformer class

It was my first time trying out reformer pilates and it was so much fun. It might be a little tough for beginners but it really helps to work out the muscles that we rarely work on.

Pilates Reformer Trial

I have long wanted to have a trial at Pilates with reformer and did a quick search online for studios near my place. Pilates fitness came up and reviews were pretty good so decided to have a go. The instructors were really patient for beginners like myself and will initiate to correct posture and techniques. I had a very good experience overall, but most importantly I felt the slight improvement in flexibility, strengthening core and body posture. That’s why I went on to purchase more lessons as a follow-up.

Patient and great teachers

I attend Pilates to manage my backaches. After every class I always feel better and the aches are lesser if u practice the exercise at home. Teacher Joy is very patient with me and also very knowledgeable. Classes are easy to book and not too crowded.

Excellent trial package!

I attended 3 core pilates sessions with Wina, and it was a great way of getting introduced to reformer pilates. She was very friendly and patient, and I left each workout feeling like I went through an intense workout without being too exhausted. I definitely plan on continuing with regular sessions. The price was great too!

Comfortable

The second studio I tried for reformers Pilates and though the equipment here don’t seem as new as the first studio I tried, they work just the same and well. The studio here is also quite refreshing, there isn’t any receptionist at the counter and I had to enter the studio via an app. First time experiencing this and glad to see that the studio is v clean, bright and comfortable. Tried two different instructors, Joy and Wina, both are very patient, friendly and clear in instructions.
